Dorlan, Bwlch-Y-Gwynt Rd, Llysfaen, Wales
He established the first Rural Sports Association in Wales here in Llysfaen. He founded the Colwyn Environmental Improvement scheme offering employment opportunities to over 200. He was an instigator of Ysgol Cynfran Llysfaen new build, incorporating both youth and community facilities for residents to make use out of school hours.
A campaigner of dual use facilities, he promoted and delivered the public sports facilities at Emrys ap Ewan High School Abergele, providing again, out of hours use along with resolving the much-awaited swimming pool facilities. He started the Fresh Start club at the Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre with a 6 a.m. use of the pool and facilities achievable because the pool was already being heated all night. His concept of dual use services is driven by promoting “value for money” along with providing services outside the reach of many. He is the winner of the British Heart Foundation Award for the Coastal Cycle Track of Great Britain, another concept where all ages could use a joint facility. He is passionate about access to community support.
He now has his sights on a new goal to campaign for further improvements in Llysfaen. He believes residents need to review their area and incorporate a safe footway on Clobryn Road, address dog fouling, improve road infrastructure and focus on the provision of affordable energy, its infrastructure, and the costs upon residents.
The youth are the future, yet in some places local facilities have been withdrawn. He believes there is a need to revitalise both youth and community facilities through supporting the redevelopment and rebranding of existing Associations.
establish a Pride of Llysfaen Award, recognising residents' efforts and annual competition.
Involve residents in decisions which impact upon them and ensure that meaningful consultation’s take place. To ensure this he will establish a monthly meet and greet surgery within the area. Times and dates will be available on this site following the election.
